Since the talk of the US seems to be the Pledge, I thought I’d address it in the way I see best. America is all torn up over having the words “Under God” in the pledge. I really must wonder why we have this as the biggest topic of discussion in society, the papers, tv, etc. We have an economic crisis going on, a war in Afghanistan, terrorists living in the US, a Russia/China alliance that challenges some major US interests, and what we care about is “Under God?” We can’t put one thing in there to make everyone happy so just put “Under Satan” and piss everyone off. Next issue.
Here’s another issue that people can talk about. Postal Inspectors, you know, the guys that drive around trying to find out who put the notecard in your mailbox that says “Will mow lawn for $10″, they are allowed to carry guns on planes, as are Smithsonian curators, Agriculture inspectors, and some park service employees, but are pilots? Umm, no. Well, that’s enough of that for today.

I was speaking to a good friend this evening and we were taking about my perceived behavior. So many people are calling me arrogant lately and I’m really not. I think these people, frankly, it’s all men who are saying this, are doing it because I screw up their gender paradigm. I am not what their small minds think of as the “typical woman” therefore, something is *wrong* with me. Too many people are buying into stereotypical male/female roles and when a man steps outside of a typical male role he is usually told he’s acting gay and when a woman does it she’s a bitch. What is it about these roles that makes the world so great? Would I be better if I was married, knocked up, baking cakes, taking care of 8 kids, and the only words I could mutter were “whatever you say dear?” I don’t think so. If a woman chooses that as how she wishes to live her life fine, but because I choose to live mine in a manner that is defined by being powerful, assertive, and IÂ will do what pleases me I shouldn’t receive societal punishment for it. I also am not looking for a marriage partner so that somehow denotes that there is something wrong with me. Bizarre rationalizations people have… On a better note, at least some people are changing their perception of just what the gender paradigm is after knowing me for a while. One step at a time, I suppose.

OpenBSD wouldn’t have had that one remote hole in the default install if they wouldn’t have put those two female fish next to Puffy like they were second class citizens and sex objects.

Work, work, work, that’s all I ever do…by choice
I’m burned out, I need another vacation, preferably not a working one this time.

Today I spent most of the day “celebrating” my birthday with my lovely family. Since I’m adopted I have two birthdays, one in June and another in September, which is my adoption day. Today, I went to the melting pot for dinner and now I’m cleaning my office. Of all the things I could be doing, I’m doing that. I was reading a good bit of Sartre today, it’s his fiction novel, “Nausea.” It’s a great read, I highly suggest it, I’ll be posting an opinion and synopsis in my reading section soon along with the other books I choose to post.
Since I am cleaning so much this will leave me a great deal of time to work and update the site as well. I know I’ve been procrastinating about it a great deal but I am going to upload all the things I worked on while on my trip.

I had to go shopping today since my mother burned a hole in my new shirt with the iron. No, I don’t do my own laundry
Yes, I’m lazy and cheap. So, I went and bought a new shirt, did I mention I loathe and detest shopping? The salespeople are the worst they always want to talk to me and I always want to go about my business. I also never go shopping in the mall, however, my mom bought this shirt for me as a birthday present and then she burned a hole in it then I got to return it, something is wrong there…

I have arrived in the US, woo. I’m not all that pleased to be here but I won’t complain. I spent some time on the island, I truly enjoyed myself in the Bahamas and I did many things I said or thought I’d never do. My parents and I had a lot of fun exploring the island and I hope to visit my Father again while he is working in the Bahamas.

So, today I went to the DMV and stood in line, it moved about 2 feet in one hour. There were not even a lot of people there. I despise the the government and what it takes to get a license, it’s ridiculous. And much to my annoyance after I showered and brushed my hair they still used a picture on my license from when I was 15 years old, how quaint. Well at least I only had to pay $5 to get it “duplicated” as I had lost it previously and was too busy to go get another one.
