We left Georgia on Tuesday and had a great flight with Delta. Delta is not horrible like American Airlines so we did not get stranded, abused, or have our belongings trashed. Yay. The Atlanta airport has really gotten faster with security and online check-in makes things so much easier. I think we have decided to always use online check-in for all our domestic flights thus cutting out the extra people that we would otherwise have to talk to.

Now, we are at Brian’s parents house in California. We are having a relaxing time here. We visited a bookstore and Olvera St. in LA. We actually ate lunch at a restaurant in the oldest brick building in LA…it was a lot of fun. We are supposed to go to Yosemite next week and also drive the 49er (gold rush) highway and see some of the neat Old West Mining towns and ghost towns. I seem to be very interested by that time period and have been reading a number of Old West books and watching a number of western movies. We just watched Shane last night and it was great.

I am supposed to cook Ethiopian food for Brian and his parents this week. That should be fun… :)

After a brief excursion to the pool yesterday we decided to go to the movies. We saw Madagascar and enjoyed it. The behavior of the parents and kids in the theater left much to be desired for but we were able to see the movie nonetheless. Sidenote: It is somewhat horrific and humorous that the movie theaters keep advertising that the nachos “now contain real cheese.” I am not sure what they contained previously but I am sure that they are probably every bit as inedible as they were previously. Do people really eat this stuff? And why would people put butter-like goo on their popcorn? It is not even butter, it is butter-like goo! I digress.

After the movie, we ate at the California Pizza Kitchen where we had an enjoyable meal complete with screaming families. I simply do not understand why CA Pizza Kitchen always has screaming babies and toddlers in it. Why do people bring their kids to such an adult restaurant? It does not have a playground or pizza that would interest a little kid. Furthermore, most of the kids we have seen there are under two. Yesterday, we had the misfortune of sitting next to two families with two little babies who were not terribly loud and their bouncing toddler who enjoyed taking his shoes off and doing gymnastics on the booth seat (which was long and I had the misfortune of sharing it with him). Then the people that sat behind Brian were screaming at their kids. Then, a baby started crying out a few tables away. The mother, in all her maternal brilliance, hit the baby on the head with a menu. I am sure that child will be a productive member of the prison system by the time it is 18…

We just got home from a short trip to Cleveland. It is not a very exciting place from what we saw! It seems that the farther north you get in the US that the people become more rude and less helpful. Cleveland is like Columbus except it is bigger, gets more snow, is more windy, a bit colder, the people are even more rude and less helpful (if that is even humanly possible), and they lack a good travel section in their Half Price bookstores. To sum things up, Cleveland is not so great.

Now, we are getting ready for our trip next week and trying to clean up the apartment.

Next week we are visiting my parents in GA and going to Stone Mountain and to the laser show. The following week we will be visiting Brian’s parents in CA and we will be going to Yosemite and some other interesting and neat areas. We are both excited! Then, we are off to Hawaii, this time to the Big Island to preview the state of housing and land as well as going snorkeling and hiking, etc.

Now, more apartment cleaning…
