Last night I went through Brian’s “filing system” (more like everything he’s ever gotten shoved into a accordion file) and his “tax filing system” (namely every tax booklet from 2000 shoved into another accordion file). He sat at the computer playing online and surfing the web while I did all the work. Yet, somehow, he claims that the process pained him and that he had to “relive every bit of paperwork that he has had since 2000.” I am not sure how he could relive all the paperwork from 2000 because most of it was never even opened to begin with! I did all the work and apparently he did all the suffering. My husband is extremely silly (but truly believes that he suffered a great deal of pain last night).

I flew into Atlanta today. First, I took a cab from the apartment to the airport and the guy drove in the median because he was talking on his cell phone. Great. At least he took $10 off the price because of his stupidity and rudeness. Yay for that. After I got to the airport some really old weird guy told me not to leave him behind. I am not sure what that was about but it was bizarre. He started to follow me but fortunately I walk too fast. Weird. When I ate dinner with my grandma and father tonight a weird woman who breathed very strangely sat next to us and made strange noises while we ate. I guess that is it for excitement. More later…

I am off to Atlanta today. I will be back on Sept. 13.
In other news, we’re finding great bits of land online to potentially purchase. …in Hawaii, Canada, Northern California, and Oregon. Woohoo!

We have decided to enter the 5K “Cat Caper” run here in Columbus on October 1st. Here is a link to the website. It is our first race together, and we are very excited!
We are training hard for that, and, eventually, the Iron Man (& woman) Triathlon on the Big Island of Hawaii! A loooong way to go, though, before we’re ready for that!

The other day I saw sitting on our office chair and it made a weird noise and tilted back so I got up. I told Brian that I thought I broke it. He sat down on it and nearly fell in the floor after we heard a weird snapping sound. It was decided then that the office chair was officially broken. We surfed online to find a base to attach to the bottom but decided that would probably be too expensive given that we do not need the chair for much longer. Since we are moving in December and would not take an office chair with us we were not terribly motivated to buy a new office chair. On the other hand, the realization that we had lost a chair clothes chair (something had to become the new office chair) was terrifying.
So, we planned to buy some kind of chair from Target. Well, just today, as we were doing laundry, we saw that someone had left a almost new office chair down there for anyone to take. So, we took it. Now we have a almost new office chair which we just cleaned that is now a free replacement for our other chair. Yay!

Apparently, Chertoff of Homeland Security, says that no government experts thought that the levees in New Orleans could ever possibly be breached. Who is the government hiring as experts, retards and three year olds? Anything built can be breached! Besides, the levees were only built to withstand Category 3 hurricanes. I do not think that it takes much of an imagination to think about a Category 4 or 5 hurricane. It is not like Category 4 hurricanes are unheard of… This guy is a cretin and so is the rest of the federal government. Bush has bred big government and rampant taxation and this is the end result. People are dying because of bureaucracy and government stupidity.
You can read about the story here.
Also, for a list of people that are stranded in New Orleans because they are elderly, ill, or just trapped, go here.
For more realistic news of what is really going on, you might want to read the blogs of people still trapped in New Orleans… This guy is still working for his web hosting company and continues to report on what is going on in the city: http://mgno.com
If you would like to help the victims of Katrina or you actually need to find someone you can go here to sign up. I am volunteering for this organization…

I am beyond horrified and annoyed. The United States government is a giant heaping piece of crap. Our government is so big and so bureaucratic that it cannot even function. FEMA turned away 500 boats and 1000 rescuers who came to New Orleans to save people who were still trapped in hospitals and houses.
Read the article here: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/9/3/171718/0826
FEMA turned the boats away and said that assistance from non-government groups was unneeded. The Red Cross cannot get into New Orleans. No aid is being given to these people in New Orleans except from (some) crazy psycho National Guard people and people who just came back from killing people in Iraq. Great, since when did the military start training for humanitarian aid? I hardly call shoving a gun in someone’s face and telling them that you will blow their brains out because they are hungry part of a humanitarian effort. (This happened at the Convention Center - check CNN). Moreover, what about all the people in Mississippi? Almost everyone has forgotten them. They are worse off than the people in New Orleans, except that Mississippi is less populated. Few people are helping them and even fewer realize how hard they were hit. Scores of people have rented tour buses, opened up their homes, and are willing to do anything to save these people. Yet, our government continues to say things are all under control when they are not! People inside of New Orleans are blogging and anyone who can read knows that the government is full of lies! FEMA is sitting around doing almost nothing. They are preventing aid and they are allowing more and more people to die. Thousands of people who are trapped in their homes have even called to say where they are and are promised a rescue. FEMA has not rescued any of these people! These people are mostly elderly, diabetic, and injured. They will die soon if FEMA does not allow people to rescue these individuals!
I have volunteered to help the people in Mississippi and New Orleans by helping to reconnect families via the web. I am going to spend a couple of hours each day attempting to find people who are safe and looking for other safe members of their family whom they may have been separated from or never saw after the hurricane. I hope this small effort will help someone…

I am pretty sure that a better way to spend $200 billion would have been to save it rather than waste it on Iraq. I think a natural disaster is a more worthy cause than Saddam Hussein. It probably makes him happy to know that so many Americans are dead. …and we spent $200 billion just to put him in prison? What a waste, set him free, I’m pretty sure he would never make it very far anyway. Just put Pat Robertson on him, he seems to be open to assassination.

Tonight was great. We walked to “the hill” and a basset hound jumped on me while I was sitting down and licked my arms and face. That was just great. I just love unknown dog slobber. While the dog slobber was gross, it is really the fact that these stupid Ohioans never use a leash that annoys me. The people who had the basset hound had a leash, it just was not attached to the dog. Why bother bringing the leash? After the dog jumped all over me then they attached the dog to the leash. Fortunately, it was just an unknown dog being very friendly and not someone’s nasty pitbull. People here are as dumb as rocks…
