When I was in Georgia visiting my parents in January I had about 12″ of my hair cut off so that I could donate it to an organization that makes wigs for children with cancer. The organization is called Locks of Love and I highly recommend donating your hair if you have at least 10″ to donate.

The painter finally came today to paint our kitchen and bathroom. It really turned out to be a one man operation - the old guy with the paint bucket. But he’s doing a good job. I’m not really sure how he intends to finish by today but we shall see…
Now, we are figuring out how to feed ourselves since using the kitchen is not an option…

Finally, our kitchen and bathroom are getting painted next week. The painters are coming on Monday and supposedly will be able to get both rooms painted in one day. I’m not entirely convinced that some 80 year old man with a paint brush will not just show up and say he’s ready to get to work - but we shall see. The most annoying part is that we have to clear out all the kitchen cabinets & drawers and take everything out of the bathroom and remove everything from the walls - fun fun!
I’m getting ready to eBay stuff - we have some stuff we want to get rid of… I am also sorting through my pig ornaments to see which ones I want to keep and which ones I want to get rid of on eBay.

My bread machine has decided it is time to kick the bucket. It is currently cooking some kind of hard lump. It no longer posesses the power to mix the dough and an odd burning smell is let out any time that the machine is trying to mix the dough. Locating a bread machine on the Big Island might not be so easy - but we shall see…

We are extremely busy this week and I have been looking to file various patents, trademarks and a new corporate name as well as a new domain name and a ton of other things. More on this later…

So, I got my sewing table yesterday and I also got my dresser as well. Brian said he would actually help me stain the dresser this weekend, yay! He’s slightly less anti-dresser but that’s not saying much. He told me I should keep the dresser in the basement or just store my clothes in the rec room in the basement - yeah right. I got the dresser from our local unfinished furniture store. I wanted something that was solid wood and high quality but I was not going to pay one of the furniture stores around here for some hideous piece of furniture made out of 10% wood and 90% crap approximately $800 for just a chest of drawers - no thank you.
Brian has had a sore throat for about a week so we’re going to take him to the doctor today to make sure he is okay. Hopefully, they will give him something that will help him feel better…
More later…

A myriad of things are going on right now and all of them are fun and exciting! Some interesting things are occuring business-wise and I could not be more excited.
We spent Valentine’s Day watching two really bad and gruesome X-Files episodes while eating Chinese takeout - it was interesting. The episodes were these two: the weird man with mother issues who kills people and takes hair and nails from them and the other episode was some satanic cult that sacrifices the kids living in the town. We could not even finish watching the second episode, it was just too stupid and absurd.
Today, I am going to find a dresser and a new sewing table. I also have a doctor’s appointment to find out what is going on with my body…

While I was making myself some hote tea this morning the door bell rang. I was not expecting anyone but saw that two women were standing at our front door and were staring at me. I answered the door and they opened the screen door (big no-no in my book) and proceeded to tell me how many people have unanswered questions about why bad things happen in this world and then wanted to know my answer for why bad things happen. Had they been offering a cash prize or some kind of free vacation then I would have gladly answered. However, they were offering me the Jehovah’s Witness variety of salvation - you know, the kind that only works for 100,000 people. The Jehovah’s Witnesses must be the most idiotic of all Christian sects - they are basically saying that almost everyone will not get into heaven but you should try anyway. I think they need a new marketing strategy because telling people that they are going to work hard to fail is not a way to win believers. Of course, with me they would have even more problems than just that… At any rate, I asked them if they were Jehovah’s Witnesses and they said yes and I said no thank you and have a nice day.
This incident made me ponder why some of our neighbors have large fences and gates around their properties. I think I know the answer now… We have a Jehovah’s Witness *group* that meets in the village above our house and they don’t want them bringing by literature or dropping by for a faux philosophical discussion about why bad things happen in the world. THIS is one of the reasons I left the South - I can’t stand the people who knock on your door to sell you salvation.
