I was speaking to a good friend this evening and we were taking about my perceived behavior. So many people are calling me arrogant lately and I’m really not. I think these people, frankly, it’s all men who are saying this, are doing it because I screw up their gender paradigm. I am not what their small minds think of as the “typical woman” therefore, something is *wrong* with me. Too many people are buying into stereotypical male/female roles and when a man steps outside of a typical male role he is usually told he’s acting gay and when a woman does it she’s a bitch. What is it about these roles that makes the world so great? Would I be better if I was married, knocked up, baking cakes, taking care of 8 kids, and the only words I could mutter were “whatever you say dear?” I don’t think so. If a woman chooses that as how she wishes to live her life fine, but because I choose to live mine in a manner that is defined by being powerful, assertive, and I  will do what pleases me I shouldn’t receive societal punishment for it. I also am not looking for a marriage partner so that somehow denotes that there is something wrong with me. Bizarre rationalizations people have… On a better note, at least some people are changing their perception of just what the gender paradigm is after knowing me for a while. One step at a time, I suppose.
