I have not posted in quite a while since things have been kind of crazy here. I got back from a big show in Honolulu (Honolulu Festival), Brian had a colleague in town, and then his parents came for a visit. Now, I have several shows (Merrie Monarch et al) coming up this week through next month. I haven’t been getting much sleep lately but at least I am getting a lot done!
One of my main hard drives decided to stop working today. I think the MBR is fried but I’m having trouble diagnosing the problem since I don’t have any other MBs that support SATA that I can hook up to to diagnose. I am having fun installing a fresh OS on a separate drive that is IDE. I even had to put in a temporary floppy drive just to get everything to work - fun fun. Hopefully, I can copy everything off the drive. I’m really annoyed that the drive is not working - it’s such a bad time for this to be happening.
Anything exciting going on with anyone?

After reading Volume I of the Sherlock Holmes tales I moved onto Volume II and began the ever popular Hound of the Baskervilles. It is probably my least favorite novella of the series since Dr. Watson is really the main character. I could see the appeal for most people since Dr. Watson (ISFJ) is far more approachable than Holmes (INTJ). It is really not until the end that Holmes makes an official appearance and then it is only to explain the who, what, when & where to all parties involved. I prefer the tales of Holmes and Moriarty to these silly stories though.
I seem to be strangely sleepy today. More sleep is required. More later…

Work is going well and it is quite plentiful. I’m developing a diaper bag, a new clutch, and a new bag with bamboo handles this week.
Sleep is not going so well and it is not plentiful. Exhaustion ensues!
I am trying to sell an industrial sewing machine and an industrial serger that one of my seamstresses has stored here. She was going to use it but then decided not to so I am trying to get rid of them, besides, I get to keep 50% of the proceeds.
I hate the shipping costs to Hawaii so I am taking steps to remedy that. I had been planning a trek to San Francisco for the annual fabric buying show for the trade later in the year to get my fabric for the year. I figured that would save me time and money but a new opportunity has presented itself. A Hawaii manufacturer of aloha/Hawaiian fabric will actually bring ALL the fabric to my house so I never have to go anywhere and I get wholesale prices. I cannot beat that and I do not pay any shipping costs.
Has anyone ever eaten TastyBite Indian food? It is already cooked and ready to eat and it comes in a little pouch. I had it when I visited my parents because they don’t allow any real cooking in their kitchen - only microwave pouch cooking. Anyway, I thought they were really quite good (which is very surprising) but they were really healthy (low-fat, not high in calories, and the sodium is not bad either). They also have Thai food as well. I ordered some online and had it shipped to my parents so they could send it to us. I was not paying $150 to have it shipped to Hawaii overnight when I could pay just $9 and my parents could send it in a flat-rate box.
Now, I am waiting for an email that has not come that I need for a meeting. Joyous.

Brian left me! That is, he has gone on a trip to the Waipio valley and has left me at home by myself for 24 hours. Brian is going to plow taro fields or something and sleep in the dirt with a bunch of recovering drug addicts while they have no access to modern amenities. We are supposed to do an 11 mile hike tomorrow but I wonder if Brian will be up to it… I hope I will be up to it. I did not think I would be able to sleep last night but I think only getting 3 hours of sleep the night prior made it easy to rest. I ended up getting 10 hours of sleep and that was pretty nice.
I was thinking about going to see a movie last night but decided not to since Brian said he would go with me in a few weeks to see Pirates of the Carribean 2.
I also never thought I would say this but I actually think I like PHP better than Perl.

We were awakened at 3:30 AM this morning to find that our inflatable bed was closer to the floor than when we went to sleep. Joy. Even better, the hole was in the top of the bed and not the bottom - we have no idea how it happened. We went to Walmart (aka The Evil Empire) at 6 AM to buy a new bed. Great. We hope this one will hold up - it is smaller, which stinks but it takes up less space in the room which is nice. Walmart did not even have a decent selection of beds to choose from. Whenever we have family stay with us, we are going to have to order an airbed online, I think. I am so tired I have no idea what I really just said.

Our air mattress has died. It leaked air rather quickly last night and over the last couple of nights. We repaired the hole but it leaked to the point of being about 1/2 full. Brian is now sucking out all of the air so we can send it to the manufacturer for a refund. We also just went out and bought another air mattress to replace it with. Hopefully, this will at least get us to Hawaii. Then, we can buy an Aero Bed or something like that and a platform that will help keep it from debris and random floor weirdness.
In addition, I hope the single man is awakened by this pleasant noise being made by our air pump…

I am really back this time. Things have been incredibly hectic. I have gone back to college, this time to get a degree in Horticulture. I am going to symposiums and flower shows constantly and have been incredibly busy. However, I have resolved to make the website a priority. Some things have changed in my life. I actually sleep now. Sleep is a wondrous thing, everyone should try it. So, I am back and I am indeed alive, contrary to popular belief.

My body is being quite strange today. I am quite tired and sore. I suppose my body is all of a sudden wanting to catch up on sleep (this week especially) after 20 years of little sleep and much work. My mother says it’s probably mononucleosis but I disagree. I truly think I’ve entered a state of exhaustion.

I want to sleep so bad…One day that would be incredibly nice to do, every single night for at least 8 hours. I’ve not slept more than 30-45 mins here and there for a long time. It’s making me crazy…among other things… =P
